Description: Lovely rosewood Rococo period Victorian bed. There is a beautifully sculpted carved finial on each end of the headboard. Carvings outline the curved contour up to the large intricately floral carved crest. There is a recessed panel in the middle of the headboard and curved footboard where the vibrant grain of the rosewood is on full display. The side rails have a return at each end that blends with the design it fits into. The return on the headboard end is especially high and features profuse carving. There are six bed bolts (replaced) that make this bed very sturdy. There has been some professional restoration to the foot board. The interior dimensions are 50"W x 77"L. A custom box spring and mattress of that size can easily be ordered. The high quality and style of this bed strongly suggest a New York City origin.
