Description: Elegant French Style Hand Painted Vitrine probably by Paine Furniture,
Boston. The top is arched with a cast brass ormolu open crest that is signed by
the premier brass maker "P. E. Guerin 591" (already the sign of exceptional quality).
Underneath is a small bombe swell which has painted on it an open book of music,
guitar, horn and flowers. The front and sides are all original serpentine glass with
brass ormolu trim around the exterior. The base has a large bombe swell with
a woodland scene of a gentleman holding the hand of a lady in period dress.
There are scenes on each side of painted streams and trees. The paint is in wonderful original condition with only a couple tiny flicks. On the back are stenciled numbers indicative
of the Paine Company. It has the original plate glass shelves and a velvet covered shelf
in the base that is removable and easy to cover in the fabric of your choice. There is the
original working key for the door. This is quite a stunning vitrine for display and to simply
admire as an artwork in its own right!
