Description: Beautiful rosewood Welch "Carey" shelf clock in super
untouched original condition. There are glass sides and the original
stenciled decoration on the front glass. The case is very ornate with
finials, applied carved buttons, and three quarter columns on each corner.
The clock has the original dial and hands and even the label on the back
(see photo). There is a brass pendulum with a circular frosted glass design in the
middle. E. N. Welch Co. made several very similar models including the
Gerster and Patti in 1875 as shown on page 387 of "The American Clock" by
William H. Distin and Robert Bishop. In our experience, the Carey is the
harder model to find.
Circa: 1875
Dimensions: 20"H x 12"W x 6.5"D
Finish: Excellent original finish with a deep rich patina exposing the
wonderful rosewood grain.
Price: $2450.00
