Description: Great solid quartered oak slant lid desk that is carved to death! It has an original brass gallery around the top. The front lid features two winged gargoyles with a crest in the middle. An original brass key opens the lid which rests on two supports that pull out from the sides of the desk. It has a wonderful interior with eight cubbies, two drawers, a cupboard door, and two pullout letter holders. The base has two drawers over double doors. The top drawer has a lovely lion head carved pull in the middle. There are quarter rope twist columns on the sides and large carved feet in front. The sides have two recessed carved panels. The secondary wood is also oak. A highly detailed, intricately carved molding surrounds the bottom. This desk has an interesting shape with the top being wider than the base.
