Description: Magnificent rosewood Renaissance Revival Victorian abattant
signed by Alexander Roux, NYC on the inside of interior drawer (see photo).
It has a curved gallery with returns. The three top "drawers" are fake and
make up the drop lid. The interior is absolutely stunning with vibrant
satinwood grain. There are two drawers over a longer bottom drawer and an
original fabric writing surface. A fine quality two stage lock for the lid
has the original brass key. The entire front and sides of the case are all
intricately decorated with geometric marquetry. There are four drawers
beneath the slant lid. The back is original (see photo). The case is a
desirable narrow size. A very rare signed piece made by one of the finest
furniture makers of the period!
