Description: Wonderful large walnut Victorian breakfront. The magnificent
crest features open carved leaves with a fully carved bust of Shakespeare in
the middle. The head is extremely well done with great detail. Notice the
carved hair on all sides of his head and the tie and collar! The step down
sides have crests with large carved finials on top. There is a band of
floral carving above each of the doors. There are two arched doors in the
middle and shaped top doors on either side. Each section has three
adjustable shelves. A brass pull was added above each key hole to help open
the doors. This was originally done with a key but the pull does make it
easier. The base has a pullout desk in the middle with spindles on the side
and a one drawer interior. A leather writing surface with a veneered border
has been installed. The three dop drawers have elaborate carved pulls.
There are four doors on the bottom. Each has an elaborate central carving.
The side cabinets have replaced shelves in the interior. The base molding
has had some water damage in the past. This is a magnificent piece that
would be the focal point of a library or dining room!
